Decorator Ideas For Using Color For Purpose-Driven Decor
The most successful advertising campaign of all time relied party on color. Philip Morris at that time had a problem with Marlboro, a cigarette brand for women. People seem to work best when surrounded by blues, although too strong or too much of it can become too depressingly heavy. Color can have the effect of making a room feel cold, despite the temperature.
Color preference.
The most popular color is red. Girls and women love colors like magenta or purplish red. Orange-red is a popular selection among boys and men. Blue comes in next. Women like it in turquoise, men like it deep. Generally, large areas of soft or delicate colors with small spots of brilliant accents appeal to people. This may explain why people are drawn to sandy beach scenes.
The best color combination comes in complementary pairs.
For instance, blue and orange have the same waves as white light and are considered to be a balance of warm and cool and thus do not cause strain on the eyes. Have one of the colors light, the other dark – they work best that way. Saturated hues can oftentimes seem unpleasant - so avoid them.
Every hue has a mate and a family.
The complementary hue is the mate. The family is the shades, tints, and tones that result from blending complementary hues. For walls, colors like white or gray mixed with green-blue is a great choice. For illustration, you might think about a vermilion floral wall art. With this color scheme, brown and beige furniture will look best. It will still look attractive if you put in a decorative wall grilles.
The room's purpose should decide its color.
For the bedroom, use delicate tints and tones to achieve a soft and soothing feeling. For the living room, have something more dramatic: contrasting colors and more color accents. Babies can only see brilliant light - so select bright colors for the baby's nursery. You might have a pair of vermilion floral wall decorations here to pull together your living room and baby’s room.
The room's orientation should decide its color.
If the room has windows facing east, don’t use yellow or peach. Don't use blue, if the room has only a window facing north. Generally, a room with poor light should take a light color; otherwise, it can take a deep color. Ceilings are normally painted white to reflect light into the room. Finally, always remember, that even when you can’t change your wall color, such as in an apartment, you can always add personality and color with a vivacious fish metal art, wall tapestries, traditional painting or any other wall accent form your favorite wall art site or store.
