Under Stars And The Sun In The Yucatan

In our last commentary we discussed the jungle yucatan region south of Playa del Carmen as well as around Tulum. In this piece we will center on Playa del Carmen plus the recreational activities surrounding this prospering beachfront Caribbean town. What began as a quiet little Caribbean fishing community, has quickly turned into one of the best travel destinations in the yucatan. Back in the early 90’s we visited that sleepy little village and I can say first hand it is a far cry from what it is today. Popularity causes advancement and change, nevertheless if you are looking for a wonderful vacation and tons of action, Playa del Carmen is the place.

Playa del Carmen nowadays has become a Caribbean destination that has it all. From world class shopping on the famous 5th Avenue to various adventure parks, world class Playa del Carmen hotels and all-comprehensive resorts to dance clubs and dining alternatives to satisfy even the most sensitive appetites. Whether by day or nighttime, you should find no lack of activities to do in Playa del Carmen!

Playa del Carmen is a lot more than just miles away from the modest Tulum hotels and eco-chic cabana resorts you will definitely encounter further down the coast, but it still continues to be a charming, active and culturally rich spot to visit. By daylight hours, Playa del Carmen gives you some of the best people watching to be found in Mexico, whether or not on the wide yucatan beaches or on the 5th Avenue walking mall you will see a extensive range of guests from all over the world. There is so much to do and witness in this centrally placed modest city, being a short boat ride to Cozumel for a fantastic day trip for snorkeling or scuba or going up the coastline 30 minutes to the city of cancun for even more options.

Playa del Carmen by daylight means beach parties, snorkel and SCUBA tours, daytime jungle safaris, adventure theme parks, fishing and shopping. Playa del Carmen in the night time brings out the crazy side in many who start out out below the light of the stars. In addition to the world class dining alternatives there are at a minimum a dozen night-clubs that cater to the late night dancing and adventurous crowds. Still known as a fun family vacation alternative, Playa del Carmen is rapidly establishing itself as a rival for Cancun with the dance party entertainment options.
