Tim Teabow, The Enigma The Media Can Not Understand
I believe That I know why there's so much furore surrounding Teabow. One of the things he's criticised about is his press. The one's who do the criticising are a part of the difficulty. It is great copy for the media to strap-line an extremely high profile person and in doing so it publicizes them and it increases the person's publicity, which in Teabow's case is working against him. But there is a different reason that I haven't heard anybody talking about that keeps Teabow constantly in the news. He is an anomaly. The media or the sports world doesn't get it. They can not believe that a tough hard playing UFL quarterback could presumably claim to be a virgin with no humiliation, and be a soft hearted caring person off the field.
Perhaps they think a Christian is someone who is supposed to be home on the couch watching Billy Graham re-runs on TV and definitely not a NFL quarterback. Lots of the world has an erroneous concept of what Christianity is about. Christians are meant to be meek, or to explain feeble and boneless. That couldn't be further from the actual facts.
I had a priest friend who was a previous Green Beret; another Christian friend, who worked for me, was a former Army Ranger. I have 2 Christian pals who are retired colonels, one Military and one an Air Force pilot. Christianity is filled with bold people. The prior century there was more Christians martyred for their stand for Christ than all past centuries mixed. The apostles of Jesus all died due to their Christian faith, except for the apostle John who was exiled to a lonesome island to live out the rest of his life.
Today bold men and women go as missionaries to predominantly Muslim countries where sharing their faith is intensely dangerous and infrequently gets them killed. I've got a missionary friend who has sacrificed his liberty to live in a communist country to share his faith with folk hungry for the gospel yet under the bondage of communism. To be a Christian in the present day frequently brings disrespect. Christians are made fun of and mocked by many. Christians are the bravest noblest people I've ever known. I find it a credit to be connected with them and counted as one of them.
I like football but I am not a progressive fan who thinks it is the most important thing in the world. It does not spoil my day when my team loses; it's just a game. I think of myself as a fan of Tim Teabow who also does not believe football is the most significant thing in the world. Folks are more critical than a game. Tebow, in association with his courage, cares for folks and tries in each way to make use of the platform God has given him to push that cause.
What number of his critics anywhere near equals his contributions to the needy apropos money and private time? I don't have any method of knowing but if I was to guess, I'd say it might be just a few or perhaps none whatsoever.
Teabow does not need the likes of me to protect him. He's got the courage to stand, and who he stands for has the power to guard him and continue to bless his life. I really doubt if he is ruffled much at all because of those who make it their occupation to find fault with him. He probably forgives them and offers a prayer for them. At least that would be in line with the sort of genuine person he is.
