Scenic Holidays And Attractions In Lanzarote
Lanzarote has earned a reputation as a package holiday destination over the years but increasingly more and more independent travellers are discovering the island. Drawn by wonderful weather, more affordable flights, accommodation and scenery that really is out of this world. There are lots of natural wonders to explore here. Most of which were created by large scale volcanic activity which hit the island in the early 18th century.
Lanzarote is the fourth largest of the Canary Islands and has been a popular holiday destination since the 1970´s. It’s still going strong today too – welcoming millions of foreign tourists every year. And whist many are here to enjoy the glorious sunshine on the beach or by the pool most still find plenty of time to explore too. The island however boasts enough stunning sights to lure them away from their Lanzarote holiday villas and apartments for a day or two to see what the island has to offer.
Lanzarote offers visitors plenty to do and see as well as year round sunshine – which has helped to establish it as the third most popular of the Canary Islands after Tenerife and Gran Canaria. Boasting a whole host of attractions such as the natural wonders of the Timanfaya Volcano Park, the green lagoon at El Golfo and the Valley of 1000 Palms. As well as the creations of a local artist called Cesar Manrique, which include the Mirador del Rio, Cactus Garden and the Jameos del Agua. Along with close to a hundred great beaches and picturesque pueblos such as Yaiza and Haria.

The Aqua Park – to some it may be sacrilege to visit a water park when you are surrounded but superb beaches and friendly coastlines but there is a child in all of us. The Aqua Park has an excellent range of slides, flumes and pools and is guaranteed to prove a popular hit for families of all ages. It’s fun for all the family and makes for an unforgettable day out. or maybe
If these are not to your taste you could also try Cuevas de los Verdes: Cave of the Greens, located nearby to Jameos Del Agua which shares the same lineage. Cuevas de los Verdes is a must see attraction that exposes the underground nature of the Island. The caves were for centuries used as a refuge or hiding place for locals against the many invaders and intruders the island was exposed to. It can be tough going inside so make sure you are wearing sturdy footwear. Also check out Jameos Del Agua whilst in the area.
